Landsat TM/OLI remote sensing images from 2003,2009,2013 and 2018 were selected in Chifeng, Support Vector Machine(SVM) method was used to ext ract 4 years of central city,the change trend of urban expansion intensity and speed was studied combining GIS spatial analysis method on time scale,the results showe d thatthe central urban area of chifeng changed from high-speed expansion to low-speed development,the urbanization rate rose changed from 3.89% to 20.55% from 2 003 ~ 2018.
