Study on energy dissipation features of red sandstone creep failure under step loading and unloading tests

  • Aceording to the engineeing rock falire problem caused by the rock creep.,the paper analyzed and studied the energy disspation features in the rock crep pocss and revealed the rock crep mechanism.Wih the creep test under the condtion of the step loading and unloading tests,the axial and radial creep featuresof the red sandstone were compared and analyzed and the elstic strain energy and disspation energy features of therck in each step loading proc.ss were studiedThe study resuis showed that when the loading stess was less than the long term strengt, the samples would mainly have the aial cree.When the lcading stress was higher than the long term strength.the stain rate at the radial constant creep stage would be higher than the axlal strain rate. During the creep falire process ofthe red sandstone a total dissipated energy and rock absorption energy value rato would be about .35 and the dissipated energy athe acelerated creeg stage would be12% of the total dissipated energy.Thus the rock absorption enegy would be mostly in the elastc energy made stored in the sample and the energy asspation ath accelerated creep stage would be less than the energy dissipation at the constant creep stage.
