Study on method to characterize fractal features ofpore structures in coal and rock mass

  • In order to further improve the characterization method of the fractal features,based on the fractal definition of the porous medium, with the theoretical inference, the characterization method of the fractal features was established suitable to the pore structure of the coal and rock. With the pressurized mercury experiments on the coal and rock, the paper had the evaluation on the differences between the different characterization methods. Finally, a discussion was conducted on the fractal interval and the fractal dimension of the coal and rock. The results showed that the new method established could effectively characterize the fractal features of the coal and rock pore structures and the coal and rock pore structure would not have the sectional fractal features. The sectional feature might be caused by the inaccuracy of the characterization method. The higher of the fractal dimension of the coal and rock pore structure was, the physical properties of the coal reservoir would be poor and the heterogeneity would be stronger.
