In order to realize an accurate collection, intelligent analysis and effective control of the data at each monitoring and control point of the coal shearer, a s tudy was conducted on a full automatic coal shearer with a self control and monitoring & control system. Based on an intelligent control and monitoring & control system of MG250 /595- WD electric haulage coal shearer as a study object, with the cutting motor load and the pressure variation of the front and back cylinder chambers when the coal shearer drums contacted with different seam, a new coal and rock recognition technology and memory cutting technology as well as the data transmission in un derground mine and other technologies applied, fiall, realized a manual control, autonomous control and host computer remote control modes of the coal shearer and a real time monitoring and control of related working parameters. During a trial period of the coal shearer and the matched monitoring and control system in No.152304 coal mining face of Gushuyuan Mine, a coal mining with 300 000 t was completed, an accuracy rate of the coal and rock recognition in the industrial trial reached at 8 0% and the safety coefficient, coal cutting efficiency and automatic degree of the mine production were effectively improved.
