Research progress on coal measure natural gas exploration development inHuaibei and Huainan Coalfields

  • In order to further develop the coal bed methane in Huaibei and Huainan Coalfields of Anhui Province, based on the recent research achievements of the coal measure gas, the paper systematically summarized the main formation geological condition of the coal measure gas in Huaibei and Huainan Coalfields. In combination with the new drilling exploration achievements of Panqi-1 well, the paper deeply analyzed the vertical distribution characteristics of the Permo-Carboniferous coal bed methane, shale gas and tight sandstone gas and further provided the development orientation of the coal measure gas in Huaibei and Huainan Coalfields. The results showed that the coal measure gas resources in Huaibei and Huainan Coalfields would be high in potential and the main stratum mud shale would be rich in the organic matter. The thermal evolution was in the mature stage, the development of the pore cracking system would be general and in the vertical direction, several set stable sedimentation coal measure “three gas” co-formation combined mode were developed. Based on the circumstances, the paper pointed out that the next work focus of the coalfields should be conducted on the co-exploration and co-mining system of the several gas resources. Meanwhile,each technology regulations and standards were set up during the exploration development process of the coal and coal measure gas and could promote the co-development of the coal and coal measure gas.
