  • Based on the evaluation status of coalbed methane resources and the analysis on the existed problems coal exploration process in China, the paper su mmarized and provided the evaluation degree and requirements on the work schedule, engineering layout, control schedule, resources volume/reserves estimated and「 eport preparation as well as others of coalbed methane resource exploration in coal exploration process. A comparison was conducted on the drilling, logging and gas b earing volume test method similar applied to coal and coalbed methane exploration, and put forword the spectific technical requirements The result showed that in the C oal exploration process, the drilling exploration of the coalbed methane well should be conducted on well drilling operation code related to coalbed methane. The loggin g method of coal and coalbed methane would be similar, but when a small diameter logger was applied to logging of coalbed methane well, the diameter of well should be corrected. The sampling method, sampling and loading time, coal sample integrity and other aspects for the gas content and coalbed methane content test methods would be different. In coal exploration process, a cable coring was proposed.The seam gas test should be conducted according to coalbed methane content test method in order to improve accuracy.
