  • A large number of studies all over the world show that the prediction of mining subsidence is not only the basis for evaluation of mining damage and the selection of precautions for mining damage control, but also the prerequisite for the optimization of mining design, land reclamation and foundation stability evaluation.Th e types of predicting theory and method are analyzed and the suitable conditions are achieved based on the expressions of predicting method, theoretical foundations,ti me factor and special geo-mining conditions. The impact factors of mining subsidence ,the determination of predicting parameters and predicting errors are discussed sy stematically. The distinctions between the predicting error and fitting error are pointed out and emphasized. The existing problems of mining subsidence prediction such as the disadvantages of existing method, temporal spatial mechanical model, joint and interface effects of geologic body, steep seam mining, deep mining, numerical simul ation, surface monitoring data acquisition, the evaluation of relibility and uncertainty for subsidence prediction are proposed. These problems would be interested to the researchers and engineers and be solved hopefully in future.
