矿用锂离子电池电源防爆保护技术及标准分析

Analysis on explosion-proof techniques and standards for lithium-ion battery power supply used in underground coal mine

  • 摘要: 锂离子电池电源由于能量密度高、放电特性平稳、循环寿命长等优点,目前已在各类矿用装备逐步应用,然而在煤矿井下爆炸性瓦斯气体环境中使用时,锂离子电池电源由于其高能化学属性,存在着热失控并造成爆炸性极端事故的危险隐患,需要采用合适的安全和防爆技术加以保护和应对。因此,根据IEC 60079系列和GB 3836系列标准及相关操作手册说明,介绍了目前适用于煤矿井下电气设备的防爆保护技术以及不同防爆保护技术对应的设备保护级别,突出了特殊型、保护型式以及EPL Ma的实现方法。在分析锂离子电池电源固有危险因素及热失控发生原因和严重后果的基础上,系统阐述了锂离子电池在煤矿井下瓦斯爆炸性环境中使用时需要采用的电池管理技术、防爆保护技术和相关的评估技术,以及所用技术需要达到的安全完整性等级及其确定方法。针对目前国内外尚未形成关于矿用大容量锂电池电源的技术标准这一现状,结合IEC 60079系列和GB 3836系列中的特殊型保护方法及既有的风险评估技术,探讨3个潜在的研究方向以及形成相关行业标准和国家标准的可行性。

     

    Abstract: The essential properties of high energy density,stability and long cycle life of lithium ion batteries rendered its widespread applications in mining occupations.However,the use of lithium-ion battery power supply in underground coal mines with explosive gas atmosphere poses unique explosion hazards considering its high-energy chemical properties and potential thermal runaway risk.These risks required urgent attention and comprehensive protection techniques to mitigate the potential of any catastrophic events such as fires and explosions.Based on the techniques published in the IEC 60079 standards,GB 3836 standards and relevant handbooks,this article introduced the explosion protection techniques currently applicable to electrical equipment used in underground coal mines and the equipment protection levels corresponding to different explosion protection techniques with emphasize on special protection technique and EPL Ma protection level.The causes of thermal runaway of lithium-ion batteries and the associated catastrophic hazards were analyzed inclusive the battery management technology and explosion-proof protection techniques.The article also presented the systematic risk assessment practices that to ensure the integrity of battery management system for lithium-ion battery power pack that used in underground coal mines where arduous and hazardous environment prevails.The method to determine the safety integrity level of the adopted battery management system are also explained.As there is currently no specific standard or requirements for large-capacity lithium-ion battery power supplies used in underground coal mines across the world,this article suggested three importance areas that worth noted to improve the safety level of the lithium-ion battery power supply.It also path the way for the potential establishment of relevant industry and national standards based on the special protection method provided in IEC 60079 and GB 3836 and the discussed risk assessment techniques.
